Lorelle’s Curious Discovery
Lorelle is an early education and language development educator and researcher with 12 years of experience.
She grew up in Utuado, a small town in the mountains of Puerto Rico, to a family of teachers; and spent most of her childhood on her grandparents’ farm, where she learned an appreciation of nature and community.
Her upbringing, passion for working with children and progressive education, and love for a multicultural and diverse community inspired her to create Green Hive in Brooklyn, NY.
Lorelle’s Curious Journey
Lorelle has devoted her life to human and language development research and its application. After receiving a BA degree in Psychology focusing on Early Education from the University of Puerto Rico, she received her master’s degree in Educational and Psychological Intervention from the University of Navarre, Spain.
For years, Lorelle traveled around Europe, visiting schools and studying different educational philosophies and methodologies. While in Italy, she became fascinated by the Reggio Emilia Approach because of the progressiveness and the elements of research and documentation inherent to the approach.
In her own words: “Research and documentation are such powerful tools for educators because it makes us understand that every child is unique and capable and allows us to constantly reinvent our knowledge and methods to become more empathetic and inclusive to the uniqueness of each child and their cultural and social circumstances.”
